You can cancel a one-time event, or a single date of a recurring event, from its Actions menu. Cancelling takes it off sale straight away and is recorded in the event’s activity. If plans change, you can reinstate it from the same menu.
Cancelling doesn’t cancel or refund anyone’s tickets, and doesn’t message attendees. Those are yours to do from the Attendees tab, so you stay in control of what each customer is told and refunded.

Cancelling a one-time event

1

Open the event

Click on Events in the main navigation menu, then click the event.
2

Choose Cancel event

Open the Actions menu in the top-right corner and choose Cancel event.
3

Give a reason and confirm

Optionally enter a Reason. It’s shown in the event’s activity log, beneath the cancellation. Click Cancel event to confirm, or Go back to leave the event as it is.
What happens depends on whether the event was published:
  • A draft event - it’s cancelled and archived
  • A live event - it comes off sale and off your storefront straight away. Its tickets and orders are left as they are. If the event has a waitlist, the waitlist is closed and nobody on it is notified.
A cancelled event shows a notice at the top of its Overview tab saying it has been cancelled and that its tickets and orders haven’t been changed. It keeps its cancelled status once its date has passed, rather than becoming finished.

Cancelling a date of a recurring event

A recurring event is cancelled a date at a time, leaving the rest of the series in place.
  1. Open the date you want to cancel, from the events list or the series’ Occurrences tab
  2. Open the Actions menu and choose Cancel this occurrence
  3. Optionally enter a Reason, then click Cancel date
The date comes off sale and is marked as cancelled. Its waitlist is closed without notifying anyone, and the date’s page notes that it has been cancelled.
The Cancel this date confirmation, with an optional reason
A date with tickets sold can’t be cancelled until its attendees have been dealt with. Cancel their tickets from the date’s Attendees tab first, then cancel the date.

Reinstating

To put a cancelled event or date back on sale, open it and choose Reinstate event or Reinstate date from the Actions menu, then confirm.
  • You can reinstate up until the event’s or date’s day has passed
  • Reinstating a one-time event puts its date back on sale with it
  • The waitlist stays closed. The people on it were never told it closed, and may have made other plans since.
The reinstatement is recorded in the event’s activity alongside the cancellation.
Cancelling and reinstating only happen from the Actions menu. On the event’s edit page, and in a date’s edit panel, a cancelled status is locked and points you back to the Actions menu.

Reporting

Cancelled dates are left out of Events Held and Average Attendance in Event Insights, so they don’t count as events nobody came to. The Events Held card shows how many were cancelled.
